Corporate Casestudy 2:
Road Saftey Authority – Transition Year Pilot DVD
As part of a pilot programme on road safety for transition year students, the Road Safety Authority comissioned Midas Multimedia Ltd. through a competitive tender process to produce a DVD to support the classroom materials.

The project was characterised by a very tight production schedule coupled with a wide range of subject matter ranging from weather simulation on a closed circuit to dramatic crash reconstructions. The material is presented in a mix of live action video and 3D animation.

Working closely with subject matter experts from the RSA, the Midas Multimedia team set about planning and executing a logistically complex shoot that involved 15 locations, over 40 actors, extras and interviewees, significant green screen and efffects work as well as multiple external content specialists, contributors and organisations.

The close working relationship built up with the client was critical to the success of the project. With little room in the schedule for second takes never mind re-shoots, a high level of trust was required. Constant input and review by the client and SMEs coupled with an exceptionally talented and dedicated crew ensured that the shoot went exceptionally smoothly.

In post production, preparing twenty four 2-6 minute segments could have been problematic given the multitude and geographical dispertion of contnet reviewers. However, making production cuts of individual films available on our extranet where they could viewed as soone as they were completed not only saved time and money but also improved workflow and allowed for better matching of contnet to client requirements than might otherwise have been possible.
